In the spring of 2020, Operation Rimfrost was carried out in Uppsala, a targeted operation against about a hundred gang criminals with the aim of removing shooting and explosive violence.

Several of the police officers who served came from other police areas.

One of them worked for a week in Uppsala and participated in mid-April in an intervention outside a restaurant in the center.

During the intervention, a serious criminal 29-year-old was broken down, pepper sprayed and handcuffed in front of the eyes of witnesses who were filming.

During the detention, the police officer must also have pushed an older relative of the 29-year-old as he should not have backed away.

"To be used against aina"

Investigators in the large drug, bomb and weapons complex that led to the prosecution earlier this week suspect that the intervention was the start of a murder plot against the police officer, a scheme that includes the pot bomb that was seized in a basement storage a month later.

After the 29-year-old was released, he and other defendants are alleged to have chatted about getting hold of the stub and spark plugs.

"To be used against aina", writes one person.

"Should detonate 10 kg".

"Just put it in the dough?"

Planned assassination

Later pictures are sent of the policeman and finally also his home address.

A few days later, the police strike at an address in Fålhagen and you find the saucepan bomb with 9.4 kilos of dynamite, detonator, stub and remote trigger.

Several people were suspected of preparing for murder, by planning to place a bomb on the policeman's address.

The heading was then dropped.

- It was not possible to prove all the way, but the survey of the police officer and how they discuss shows that an attack was planned against the Police Authority or the individual police.

There is no other motive, says prosecutor Thomas Forsberg.

Anger at Rimfrost

In addition to the intervention outside the restaurant, irritation over the police presence in mainly Gottsunda during Operation Rimfrost is also believed to be a motive.

- There is a connection in that the anger towards the police has increased, and that an attack was therefore planned.

SVT Nyheter Uppsala has been in contact with the individual police if mapped, but he does not want to comment on the events or how he was affected by the assassination plans.

- I have nothing to say about it, he says.

58 suspects

Instead of preparing for murder, four people have now been charged with gross preparation for general destruction, including a person who is considered by the police to be the leader of the Södertälje network.

The indictment covers a total of 58 suspects and in addition to the bombs, it includes extremely serious drug crimes and serious gun crimes.

All defendants deny the crime.

SVT Nyheter Uppsala has sought the 29-year-old's lawyers, but without success.
