Viersen (dpa / lnw) - The district of Viersen wants to vaccinate around 900 employees from day care centers, day care centers and primary and special schools against the corona virus this Sunday.

As the district announced, there are 900 vaccination doses from Astrazeneca available for this group in the vaccination center on Heesstraße.

The vaccination doses come from the contingent that North Rhine-Westphalia made available to vaccinate school and daycare staff.

No vaccination for people from other groups is omitted, emphasized the district.

"This means we can reach many people from this newly prioritized group of people at the same time at the start of vaccinations in schools, daycare centers and day care," said District Administrator Andreas Coenen.

"It will take a few weeks until all those willing to be vaccinated have received an appointment for the vaccination," said Coenen.

There is still too little vaccine available to supply all those who want to be vaccinated at the same time.

The district on the Lower Rhine wrote to a total of around 260 child minders, 160 daycare centers and 44 primary and special schools for the special campaign.

The facilities could then arrange vaccination appointments for their staff under 65 years of age.

The offer is not only valid for educators, but for all people who are employed in the facilities and who stay there regularly.

The nationwide start of vaccinating staff at primary schools and daycare centers will officially take place on Monday.
