Wolfsburg (dpa) - Sports director Jörg Schmadtke expects his coach Oliver Glasner to stay at VfL Wolfsburg.

"Of course I assume that we will go into the next season with Oliver", Schmadtke told the "kicker" on Sunday.

The specialist magazine had previously revealed that the Austrian could leave the Bundesliga club this year because his contract, which is valid until 2022, contains an exit clause.

This clause has not yet been confirmed or denied by the club or the coach.

Although there have recently been dissonances in the collaboration between Schmadtke and Glasner, the Wolfsburg-based team has had a very successful season so far.

Even after the 1: 2 defeat at 1899 Hoffenheim, they are third in the Bundesliga table.

"I can only say from my side: I have a lot of fun doing the job here," said Glasner on Friday.
