London (AP) - Queen Elizabeth II (94) wants to ignore the eagerly awaited interview of her grandson Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, according to a newspaper report.

The Queen will not watch the couple's conversation with US presenter Oprah Winfrey, which will be broadcast on Monday night (CET), reported the Sunday Times.

Instead, the monarch will take on more responsibilities in the coming days, the newspaper quoted a source at court.

The Queen wanted to make it clear to the public where the focus was for her.

Palace advisors threatened the Duke and Duchess of Sussex with vengeance.

«What should Monday really be about?

Children are returning to schools, the effectiveness of the vaccination program - these are the important questions that the royal family wants to focus on, ”the palace source added.

"Not the news about the circus with Oprah and the Sussexes."

The Sunday Express wrote that the Queen's thoughts were only on her obligations and on her husband Prince Philip (99), who has been in a hospital for more than two weeks.

It is expected that Meghan will direct serious allegations against the royal family in the interview.

In a previously published excerpt, she speaks of “untruths” that the palace continues to spread.

The Sunday Times quoted palace employees as saying they were ready to “return the favor with new revelations about the couple's behavior if the monarchy is attacked”.

Buckingham Palace did not want to comment on the reports.

Just a few hours before the interview is broadcast, the Queen, her son and heir to the throne Prince Charles and Harry's brother Prince William and his wife Duchess Kate will address the population as part of the Commonwealth Day celebrations.
