I wasn't just an Islamist.

I was a Marxist, an Islamist and then I finished with Islamism and then I wanted to live in freedom.

- In the first three years in Germany, from 1995 to 1998, Germany finished me off.

And then I thought I was through with this country.

- If anyone among the intellectuals in Morocco, Egypt or Jordan or even in the Emirates said that Islam had nothing to do with terrorism, the intellectuals there would laugh.
