Iran releases a British woman in custody sentenced to 5 years in prison for espionage

On March 7, local time, according to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, Iran had released a woman with dual citizenship of Britain and Iran, Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe.

Her lawyer stated that Ratcliffe's sentence ended on March 7 and she had been released.

But the lawyer added that Ratcliffe has another unresolved case in the judiciary and it is currently unknown whether she is allowed to leave the country.

According to foreign media reports, Ratcliffe previously worked for a British foundation. In April 2016, she was arrested by Iranian police when she was preparing to return to the UK in Tehran and sentenced to five years in prison for espionage.
