Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, in partnership with the Health Authority and the Community Development Authority in Dubai, launched the first ambulance specialized in vaccinating senior citizens and people of determination with the emerging coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine in their homes in various parts of the emirate, as part of the initiative «Vaccinate you in your home».

The Director General of the Dubai Health Authority, Awad Saghir Al Ketbi, confirmed that the initiative reflects the great efforts made to provide the vaccine to the largest number of citizens and residents, in order to achieve acquired immunity and protect the general health of the community.

He pointed out that delivering the vaccine to senior citizens and people of determination in their homes comes within the series of home medical services provided by the authority for this group, which it pays most attention to, in order to achieve their satisfaction and happiness.

Al-Ketbi stated that the authority is keen to cooperate with various authorities in the face of "Covid-19", pointing out that "Dubai Health" has organized specialized courses for paramedics to qualify them and enable them to provide the vaccine, and to monitor the health status of vaccinated recipients in an optimal manner.

For his part, Executive Director of the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, Khalifa bin Dray, said that the initiative aims to save efforts on beneficiaries by giving them the vaccine in their places of residence, with the aim of avoiding them going to hospitals and centers designated to provide the vaccine, and to relieve pressure on hospitals and vaccine centers.

He explained that an engineering team at the corporation undertook the design and development of the vehicle, taking into account the provision of appropriate spaces to receive the beneficiary and provide the vaccine to him, noting that the vehicle is equipped with the latest equipment and technologies to provide vaccination, and it is also equipped with a modern refrigerator to preserve the vaccine in accordance with medical standards.

The vehicle was equipped with devices to automatically sterilize it and a thermal camera to monitor the temperature of the customers, and it was also equipped with seats that could be modified in accordance with the method of administering the vaccine.

Bin Dray pointed out that the vehicle is equipped with complete sterilization equipment to disinfect it after vaccinating every person, and it was provided with wall-hung bags to store all medical materials, making it easier for paramedics to control and move them from one place to another, and the vehicle was linked to the smart system of the Dubai Health Authority with a reader Emirates ID for the purposes of speed of delivery and accuracy.

He mentioned that the service is provided from Sunday to Thursday from nine o'clock in the morning until nine o'clock in the evening, and that senior citizens and people of determination who are registered in the Health Authority and Community Development Authority benefit from it.

Ben Dray pointed out that paramedics at the Foundation underwent theoretical and practical training in the Health Authority and obtained a certificate in the course of providing the vaccine, pointing out that the Foundation provided all personal protective equipment for paramedics, including gloves, masks and protective covers.

He explained that the ambulance crew receives the beneficiary based on medical controls and procedures, and takes care of measuring his vital signs, while preserving the client's privacy, observing cultural differences, and monitoring his health after vaccination.
