Berlin (dpa / bb) - The Berlin Women's Prize this year goes to Astrid Landero.

Senator Dilek Kalayci (SPD) said she had campaigned for equality for women for decades, according to a press release from the Senate Department for Health, Care and Equality on Sunday.

Landero was therefore the project manager of the women's center Paula Panke until 2020, is a member of the Pankower women's projects working group, is one of the initiators of the Pankower women against law alliance and was spokeswoman for the Berlin women's network.

According to the announcement, the prize is usually awarded around International Women's Day on March 8, but this time later due to the corona pandemic.

It is endowed with 5000 euros and a sculpture by the stage sculptor Esther Janshen.
