Ingolstadt (dpa) - The Audi works council chairman Peter Mosch is calling for its own battery production in Ingolstadt from 2023.

"Here we have to bring more added value into the plants," said Mosch of the industry newspaper "Automobilwoche".

The previously planned assembly should be expanded: "We work councils demand that they get on board a step earlier, that is, the assembly of the cell modules into battery packs here at the site."

This should happen from 2023, when the first electric models on the joint PPE platform from Audi and Porsche are launched at the main plant in Ingolstadt.

In addition, the works council wants to bring the construction of the Audi Q4 e-tron model and the Audi Artemis technology flagship, announced for 2024, to Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm in the medium term.

The small electric SUV Q4 e-tron is to be built at VW in Zwickau, the Artemis from 2024 at VW in Hanover.

"If the number of units continues to rise, we will then claim to bring models back into the Audi production network," said Mosch.
