The aid plan was adopted by 50 votes to 49 in the Senate after hours and

hours of negotiations

during which the text was amended several times.

The most significant change concerns the measure introducing a minimum wage of $ 15 an hour.

This measure had to be abandoned.

It was predictable.

The original text also provided for an increase in unemployment aid.

But Democrats have faced opposition from members of their own party.

It is this in particular which prolonged the negotiations on Saturday until late at night.

Finally, unemployment benefits will remain the same, around $ 300.

But American families should be able to receive the famous check for 1,400 dollars promised by Joe Biden.

There are also envelopes for schools, small businesses, states, vaccination against Covid.

The

aid plan

still has to make a final passage Tuesday in the House of Representatives for a vote.

He will then be signed by Joe Biden.

The adoption of this 1.9 trillion dollars plan is a victory for the new president who had promised aid and absolutely wanted it to be adopted before the end of the current aid which is due to expire next weekend.
