The full text of Al-Azhar's fatwa regarding vaccination against Coronavirus during fasting

Al-Azhar International Center for Electronic Fatwa said that it does not break the fast of the fasting person with vaccination against the Corona virus as long as the vaccine used in the vaccination enters his body through the skin by injection, explaining that the skin does not enter the hollow, even if the first is to delay it until after breakfast.

The text of the fatwa published by the center on its Facebook page came as follows:

(Praise be to God, and blessings and peace be upon our Master and Mawlana, the Messenger of God, and upon his family, companions and God.

All Corona vaccines produced by international companies such as (Pfizer, Sputnik V, and our modern) and others, work by injecting part of the virus's genetic code into the body (the arm). ); To stimulate the immune system and prepare it to deal with infection.

Vaccines and vaccinations in this way are neither food nor drink, nor are they meaningful, and their use is by injection of a needle into a vein or muscle (upper arm, thigh, or head of the mechanism) or in any place on the back of the body that is not the usual natural outlet such as the mouth and nose. The open ones are visible;

and then;

It does not break the fast of the fasting person.

Because the condition for nullifying the fast is that the inside reaches the abdomen through an open, clear outlet, not through an unusual outlet such as pores and veins that are not an open outlet, neither custom nor usually.

Ibn Najim said: (saying or anoint or cupping or Akthal or before, which does not break the fast; because oils; not contrary to fasting, and the lack of Breakfaster image and the meaning and the inside of the pores are not of the tract is not Enaweh as if bathed in cold water, and found his response in the liver) .

[The clear sea, explanation of the treasure of the minutes by Ibn Nujim (2/293)]

Abu Al-stay Al-Damiri said in his explanation of the condition of stopping the eye from reaching what is called the jawfa “one of the conditions of fasting”: It is called a cavity, and likewise, if the scalpel connects to the inside of the vein, then all of that is not disputed.)

[The radiant star in explaining the method by Abu Lekda al-Damiri (3/295)]

Therefore, taking this vaccine during the day in Ramadan by injecting a needle into the arm (upper arm) does not break the fast with it.

Because it entered the body through the skin, and the skin is not permeable to the hollow, although it is better to delay taking the vaccine until after breakfast.

Because a person may need nutrition or treatment after vaccination, and God Almighty is supreme and knows best.

And may God’s prayers and peace and blessings be upon our Master and Master Muhammad, and praise be to God, Lord of the worlds. ”
