Oberstdorf (dpa) - Cross-country skiers Laura Gimmler and Katharina Hennig missed the long-awaited medal coup at the home World Cup in Oberstdorf and were also unable to achieve a top result.
The 24-year-old Hennig, who fell on a descent after a strong start, finished 18th in her adopted home on Saturday over the 30 kilometers in the classic technique.
Gimmler landed clearly ahead of her in tenth place.
Her fourth gold at this World Championship went to Therese Johaug from Norway, who finished the race with a huge lead of 2:34 minutes ahead of Heidi Weng (Norway) and Frida Karlsson (Sweden).
Exactly one week ago, Hennig was only 29th in the skiathlon and then struggled hard with emotions.
In the relay on Thursday, Germany's best cross-country skier showed a great improvement, and in the end the quartet of Peter Schlickenrieder came in fifth.
