Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - Artists in Hesse are to be supported by a new funding program from the state from the summer.
It is aimed at women who work in the visual or performing arts, music, film or literature, as the Ministry of Art announced on Friday in Wiesbaden.
They should receive grants or project funds totaling a quarter of a million euros.
"The feminine handwriting in the art and cultural landscape of Hesse must become more visible and find more entry into art collections, the performance repertoire on the stages, film production and literary work in Hesse," said Art Minister Angela Dorn (Greens), justifying the initiative.
According to the ministry, a seven-person jury will decide on the award of the scholarships.
