He was held in the remand center but was granted a five-hour leave of absence that day.

On the other hand, he was not allowed to drive since he did not have a license.

This is undoubtedly why this 28-year-old detainee decided to flee, Wednesday noon, Doulon district in Nantes, when the police signaled him to stop for a simple lack of license plate.

The driver accelerated and then increased traffic offenses to escape the police.

His escape led him to the eastern ring road and then to the road to Sainte-Luce where he caused a collision with another vehicle before ending his race against a lamppost.

He was finally arrested as he was running, reports the national police.

The man, whose vehicle was not insured, returned directly to prison.

He will be prosecuted for these new facts and therefore risks increasing his sentence.

The driver of the accident vehicle was not injured but filed a complaint.
