The Ligier cart builder is expected to create 100 additional jobs by 2023 with the support of the recovery plan, Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire said on Friday.

State financial support of 3.4 million euros must intervene as part of a strategic plan for a total of 120 million euros, which provides for the development of a new 100% electric license-free vehicle, depollution of its heat engines and the modernization of its production facilities.

"It will give a spectacular boost to Ligier's production here in Vichy, and it will create jobs", underlined Bruno Le Maire, on Friday visit to the company in Abrest, near Vichy (Allier).

"The idea is to have 100 industrial jobs within two years at Ligier."

Ligier has more than 400 employees spread over two production sites in France, in Abrest and in Boufféré (Vendée).

The group was recently bought by the investment fund Edify (formerly Somfy Participations) alongside the company manager François Ligier.

The company - with its Ligier and Microcar brands - claims the place of "co-leader on the European market for vehicles without a license for individuals and light commercial vehicles, mainly electric".

It has a network of 550 points of sale in 11 European countries.
