Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - The Hessian state government is providing 50 million euros for the procurement of corona self-tests.

"Each test makes the pandemic a bit more manageable and brings us step by step closer to normal life," said Finance Minister Michael Boddenberg (CDU) on Friday in Wiesbaden.

We are working at full speed to ensure that the test options can be expanded promptly, added Social Minister Kai Klose (Greens).

Prime Minister Volker Bouffier (CDU) had announced that from Monday every citizen has the right to have a free rapid test carried out once a week - regardless of possible Covid-19 symptoms.

This should be possible, for example, at the doctor, in the pharmacy or in the test center.

However, Klose asked the people in Hesse to be patient until the logistics for the procedure were in place.

According to the finance minister, the money will flow from the country's special assets.
