Asier Carrera
, sentenced to 100 years in prison for assassinating the socialist politician
Fernando Buesa
on February 22, 2000, will finish serving his sentence in a prison in Álava after the Ministry of the Interior has authorized his transfer to the prison of Zaballa.
Along with him, four other ETA prisoners will benefit from Fernando Grande-Marlaska's policy of rapprochement, and - like Carrera - another two will be transferred to prisons in the Basque Country.
In the attack in which Buesa lost his life, the politician's escort,
Jorge Díaz Elorza
, also died
.
With these latest transfers, 70 former ETA members are counted with crimes of blood that arrive in prisons in the Basque Country or in prisons near the autonomous community.
Asier Carrera entered prison on November 14, 2000 and will have served three-quarters of the sentence in 2023. The General Secretariat of Penitentiary Institutions has stressed that Carrera accepts the legality of the penitentiary, rejects violence, recognizes the pain caused and the need to make reparation to the victims.
In addition, "it is paying the civil responsibility".
Criticisms of Pedro Sánchez
The transfer of the ETA member has not been well received in the Association of Victims of Terrorism (AVT), which has recalled that Buesa's family resides in Álava and that, through a statement, has criticized Pedro Sánchez for assuring this Thursday in the act of destruction of weapons by the terrorist gang that ETA said, "had been defeated".
In the opinion of the group, "the institutional arm of the gang is getting stronger every day thanks to its decisions."
Gorka Martínez Ahedo is another of the ETA terrorists who will change jail, specifically A Lama (Pontevedra) for El Dueso (Cantabria).
He is serving a sentence, on other grounds, for trying to assassinate former president of the Basque Parliament
Juan María Atutxa
on five occasions
and on another, Army sergeant
José Carollo Raña
.
Miguel Guillermo San Argimiro 'Isasa'
will leave Soria to go to the Martutene prison (San Sebastián).
He is serving a sentence for putting a car bomb in 2002 in the skyscraper known as Torre Europa, right in front of Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabéu stadium, a few hours before the celebration of the second leg of the Champions League semifinals between Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The explosion of the device caused injuries to 22 people and significant material damage.
The kidnapping of Cosme Delclaux
The second ETA member to go to Martutene is
Aitor Esnaola Dorronsoro
.
In 2013, he was sentenced to 17 years in prison for being part
of ETA's
Erreka command
and for hiding 1,600 kilos of explosives in two villages and three zulos in Navarra and Guipúzcoa, the highest amount found by the gang in Spain.
Finally,
Josu Ordóñez Fernández
will leave the Cadiz prison Puerto I to go to Topas (Salamanca).
In 2007 he was sentenced to 17 and a half years in prison for participating in the kidnapping, on November 11, 1996, of the Basque industrialist
Cosme Delclaux
, who was held for 232 days in the same den where the businessman
José María Aldaya
was locked up.
, located in an industrial warehouse in Irún (Guipúzcoa).
