Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The Tonhalle Düsseldorf is awarding its human rights award twice this year.

The association Mimikama (Vienna) was subsequently awarded the 2020 Human Rights Prize for its fight against internet abuse and fake news.

The prize was not awarded last year due to the corona pandemic.

The 2021 human rights award goes to the “Fridays for Future” movement for its global commitment to climate protection, as the Tonhalle announced on Friday.

The award has been presented since 2016 and is endowed with 10,000 euros each.

The award of the two prizes is planned for March 14th as part of a so-called human rights concert.

The Düsseldorf Philharmonic under the direction of chief conductor Adam Fischer play Beethoven's 4th Symphony, among others.

Fischer is the initiator of the award.
