Erfurt (dpa / th) - Thuringia's Minister of Economic Affairs Wolfgang Tiefensee (SPD) can also imagine regional easing in the corona lockdown under certain conditions.

If the nationwide seven-day incidence is between about 50 and 100, "then we can possibly take regional easing steps," said Tiefensee on Thursday in Erfurt of the German press agency.

This could be useful if in some districts or urban districts an incidence of 50 or below has been reached, but in other districts it is more than 200, as is currently the case in Schmalkalden-Meiningen or Hildburghausen.

The federal and state governments agreed on an extension of the lockdown until March 28th in hours of consultation on Wednesday.

However, a step-by-step plan also provides for relaxation if certain incidence values persist.

An emergency brake is built into it: If individual loosenings lead to a sharp increase in the number of infections in a region, all alleviations that have already been made are automatically canceled there.

Tiefensee pointed out that Thuringia must also consider the measures taken by neighboring countries.

It is clear that people from southern Thuringia, for example, would go shopping in neighboring Bavaria if far-reaching easing soon came into force there, but not in Thuringia.

The Thuringian CDU parliamentary group leader Mario Voigt spoke out in favor of always making regional decisions about the use of the so-called emergency brake.

"We are in favor of enabling district-specific decisions," he said.

There will always be shopping tourism in neighboring regions in Thuringia or from Thuringia.
