We are united,

" chanted some demonstrators this morning in Rangoon.

They are young, for the most part, and protect themselves behind makeshift barricades they have built with old tires, bricks and sandbags.

The parabolic antennas of their television serve as a shield against them to be recognized by the police.

Independent news sites like Eleven Myanmar are also reporting protests in other cities across the country.

Proof that despite the violent repression with the use of lethal weapons, the Burmese continue to challenge the military junta.

This Thursday morning a large crowd gathered in Mandalay, the country's second city, to attend the funeral of a 19-year-old girl.

Kyal Sin was killed yesterday Wednesday from live ammunition.

She has become a symbol of protest: in a photo that goes around social networks, we see her shortly before her death, wearing a t-shirt with the slogan “Everything will be fine”.

RIP Ma Kyal Sin.

One of many shot by the Myanmar military today.

I'm so sad & wish that I could do more than paint these pictures.

Int'l community don't look away.

Keep the pressure on.

It is the least we can do for the people of Myanmar.

"

We are horrified and repulsed by the violence,

" said the US government on Wednesday (March 3), which asks China to use its influence with the junta.

French President Emanuel Macron for his part calls for an end to the repression.

The bloody response by the military is also strongly condemned by the UN, which calls for strong sanctions against the regime.

Tomorrow, Friday, March 5, the Security Council will meet behind closed doors to discuss it.

China and Russia have so far refused to condemn the generals' coup.
