Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - In Magdeburg, the state parliament will hold a special session on Thursday to discuss the planned gradual exit from the corona lockdown.

In the center of the debate in the afternoon (5 p.m.) is the so-called Saxony-Anhalt plan of the state government of Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU).

The coalition partners CDU, SPD and Greens have requested the special meeting.

Haseloff meets with the cabinet before the state parliament meeting to decide on the Saxony-Anhalt plan and the future corona rules.

Afterwards (2.30 p.m.) it will also be presented to the public.

For months there has been repeated criticism that the state government always only informs parliament retrospectively about the rules that have been adopted instead of closely involving the MPs.

Prime Minister Haseloff points out that the Federal Infection Protection Act provides that the governments issue the respective corona rules by ordinance.

Most recently, among other things, the opposition left had warned that the special session of the state parliament should not degenerate into an Albi event.

In Saxony-Anhalt and nationwide, public life has largely been shut down since autumn.

The first major openings took place at the beginning of March: Schools and daycare centers have reopened, as have hairdressers, foot care salons, hardware stores, flower shops and driving schools, among others.

Retailers, the hospitality industry, cultural and recreational institutions want a perspective of when they can open again.

The vaccination rate should be increased.

There is also concern that openings too quickly will bring a new wave of infection.
