Hille (dpa / lnw) - After complaints about statements by a soldier against vaccination in action at the vaccination center in the Minden-Lübbecke district, the Bundeswehr has initiated internal investigations.

"We have been informed that a soldier at the vaccination center in Hille is said to have spoken negatively about the vaccine and vaccination in general to civilians arriving there," said André Burdich, spokesman for the 130th Panzer Engineer Battalion, on Thursday.

The soldier was immediately withdrawn and will “definitely no longer be used at the vaccination center” in the future.

The "Mindener Tageblatt" had reported several incidents, according to which the man in uniform who was in the parking lot wanted to convince arriving people with a vaccination appointment that the vaccination was harmful for them.

According to the report, he is said to have addressed her as a “vaccine victim” and “test person” and urged her to let the vaccination appointments pass.

The Bundeswehr spokesman said that no information could be given about the impending consequences or details of what happened due to the ongoing investigations.

«The individual opinion of a soldier that may have been announced there does not reflect the opinion of the soldiers of the Minden tank pioneer battalion, nor does the Bundeswehr.

We want to do our part to contain the pandemic and take this task very seriously, ”emphasized Burdich.

That is one of the reasons why an investigation was initiated quickly in order to comprehensively clear up what was happening.

As at many vaccination centers and health authorities, soldiers have been helping in Minden for several weeks - for example with logistical support.

According to the Bundeswehr, a total of 1,800 soldiers are currently deployed as so-called “helping hands” in the fight against corona.
