Berlin (dpa / bb) - The Berlin Senate has decided on a new Corona aid program worth 500 million euros.

The sum consists of 323 million euros, which have not yet been spent from last year's aid programs, and an additional 168 million euros.

150 million euros are earmarked for supplementing the federal government's planned restart aid for self-employed people and small businesses with up to five employees, as announced after the Senate meeting on Thursday.

It is about subsidy payments for federal funding.

The program start is planned for May.

In addition, there is the Berlin hardship program of 20 million euros for self-employed people and small businesses that are not eligible to apply for the federal government's restart aid.

In addition, 30 million euros should be used to create incentives for small and medium-sized companies to keep jobs.

This is about sectors that are particularly affected: gastronomy, tourism, retail.

Around 35 million euros are earmarked for funding investments in IT infrastructure.

There is also additional money for the congress and event industry.

Support with a total volume of 75 million euros is to be offered to families, especially for looking after children at home.

45 million euros are to be made available for the additional care of risk groups.

Culture also receives millions of euros again: 20 million euros for the continuation of emergency aid IV and grants for repayments, a further 10 million euros for state-funded cultural institutions that do not benefit from federal aid.

There are also several payments in the single-digit million range.

For example, cultural institutions and projects are to be supported in the conception of outdoor events.
