Berlin (AP) - Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder has warned against considering the easing options for the corona lockdown agreed by the federal and state governments as irreversible.

The CSU chairman spoke on Thursday evening in an ARD «Extra» of a «very balanced concept», in which there are cautious opening perspectives, but also an emergency brake.

«It's not a one-way street.

When the numbers get worse again, the openings will be withdrawn. "

Chancellery chief Helge Braun made it clear in the ZDF “heute journal” that if the numbers rise, there will have to be closings again.

"We will not accept again that we are coming as close to the edge of the overload of our health system as we were shortly before Christmas," emphasized the CDU politician in a pre-recorded interview.

He defended the easing decisions.

"After four months, society needs a perspective."

Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) and the heads of government of the federal states had basically extended the lockdown to March 28 the day before.

However, there should be many opening options depending on the infection situation.

At the same time, an "emergency brake" should ensure that there is no longer any relief in the event of a strong regional increase in the number of infections.
