In November 2020, the proposal to allow restaurants in Malmö to deliver alcohol to private individuals was hammered out, this on the initiative of the moderates.

Today's decision means that the fees for catering will be temporarily abolished until 31 August 2021.

In practice, this means that restaurants that do not usually engage in catering do not have to pay fees, such as registration and approval of restaurants.

The proposal has been debated

The question of the possibility for restaurants in Malmö to deliver alcohol home has been discussed.

Early in the process, the County Administrative Board demanded that those who supply alcohol must also remain until the alcoholic beverage has been drunk.

Otherwise, the act would be considered illegal alcohol sales.

This statement was opposed by the moderate and the initiator of the proposal, Torbjörn Tegnhammar.

Sobriety organization IOGT-NTO chose to appeal in connection with the proposal being voted through in November 2020. The organization believes that the decision is contrary to the Alcohol Act and therefore can not be made by a municipal board.

IOGT-NTO demanded inhibition, ie that the decision would not be possible to implement until the administrative court has made a decision on the matter.

This claim was chosen by the administrative court to breed.

The Social Democrat and chairman of the labor market and social committee in Malmö Sedat Arif criticized the decision and claimed that the committee's decision was probably illegal.
