Wolfsburg (AP) - Former Bundesliga professional and long-time VfL Wolfsburg scout Rudi Wojtowicz is in an artificial coma.

The 64-year-old suffered a breakdown on the way to an opponent observation, announced the Wolfsburg on Thursday via Twitter.

Wojtowicz played an international match for Poland before moving to Germany in 1982 and playing 162 games for Bayer Leverkusen and Fortuna Düsseldorf in the Bundesliga.

He also worked as a coach for Fortuna in the 1996/97 season, before initially working for Hertha BSC and in 2010 at VfL Wolfsburg as an opponent and player observer.
