Leipzig (AP) - With a little effort, the handball players of the SC DHfK Leipzig celebrated the first Bundesliga home win this year.

In a catch-up game, coach André Haber's team defeated TUSEM Essen on Thursday evening with 26:23 (14:14).

The winner's best thrower was Martin Larsen with six goals.

The hosts initially had problems with the speed game of the table penultimate and ran behind for a long time in the first half.

Especially left winger Noah Beyer did not get the Leipzig under control in the first 30 minutes.

After the break, however, the DHfK stabilized enormously in defense and earned a small cushion of goals for the first time after five hits in a row at 21:17.

However, the guests did not stick and also benefited from slight mistakes by the Leipzig team in the attack.

When the game threatened to tip over in the final phase, the former TUSEM player Luca Witzke advanced to a guarantee of victory for Leipzig with two important goals.
