Erfurt (dpa / th) - In order to promote climate protection, the state has so far given over 6000 free energy consultations for Thuringian households according to its own information.

The energy experts uncovered a total savings potential of 360 megawatt hours with 76,000 tons of CO2 emissions, according to a joint communication from the Ministry of the Environment, the State Energy Agency (Thega) and the Thuringian consumer center on Wednesday.

With the service, potential savings in heating, refrigerators or washing machines could be tracked, said Environment Minister Anja Siegesmund (Greens).

"Consciously using energy is the easiest way to achieve more climate protection, fewer greenhouse gases and it is also easy on your wallet."

The need of the citizens for advice on energy saving is consistently high, said the ministry.

The corona crisis did not reduce the demand for the consultations.

The number of personal conversations or telephone consultations even increased in 2020 compared to the previous year (1842 to 2080).

In 2021, the consumer advice center will also be offering consultation appointments via video conference for the first time.

Above all, the topics of heating, renovation and subsidies are in demand.

The consultations on electricity consumption, however, would have decreased sharply (minus 40 percent).

Until 2019, those seeking advice had to pay their own contribution for the energy advice.
