Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - The Hessian state government has so far paid more than 8.5 million euros for the reimbursement of canceled school trips in the corona pandemic.

Almost 2,900 applications from parents and more than 4,000 applications from companies had been processed by the end of the year, said Minister of Education Alexander Lorz (CDU) in response to a small request from the FDP parliamentary group in Wiesbaden.

832 cases had not yet been finally dealt with by this deadline.

For school trips up to and including January this year, which have been canceled by order of the Ministry of Education, the state will pay the justified cancellation costs.

The state budgeted a sum of ten million euros for this.

According to the Ministry of Culture, the state school authorities had received applications for a total of 6171 school trips.
