Kiel (AP) - The handball players at THW Kiel finished the group stage of the Champions League in third place.

The German record champion prevailed on Thursday with 36:30 (23:15) against the Croatian champion HC Zagreb.

Oskar Sunnefeldt was the most successful thrower of the «Zebras» with nine hits.

Vlado Matanovic scored six goals for the Croatians, who suffered their 14th defeat in the 14th round of the premier class.

The North Germans, for whom right winger Niclas Ekberg was absent due to muscular problems, quickly ensured clear conditions in the home arena.
