Ullrika Hallergren Ridefors says that she feels like a settler who emigrates to a new place to clear land, build houses and settle down.

Although in this case it is not about a colonization but about an urban transformation.

Neighbor with the bell tower

She was the first to take part in the new housing in the city center and become a neighbor of the bell tower, the city hall, the culture house, malls with restaurants and the other important service buildings that the city center will contain.

- It feels really fun and exciting, says Ullrika Hallergren Ridefors and continues:

- It has been a long wait, but now it feels great when you have seen the apartment and the house.

It feels like moving to a new city even though you are still in Kiruna.

Will miss seeing Kebnekajse

However, she has mixed feelings about leaving the current Kiruna center, but understands that it is a must if the city is to remain and if LKAB is to be able to mine ore.

- We have a great view here, but in the old apartment where we live now we see the Kebnekajse massif.

Both my husband and I will miss it a lot, says Ulrika Hallergren Ridefors.

The first residential block, block 1, will be ready for occupancy in May if it is not delayed due to the corona pandemic.
