Kielce / Flensburg (dpa) - SG Flensburg-Handewitt has secured group victory in the preliminary round of the Handball Champions League.

The North Germans prevailed on Thursday in the top game with 31:28 (19:17) against Polish champions Vive Kielce.

In the round of 16, Flensburg, for whom Hampus Wanne scored eleven goals, will face HC Zagreb from Croatia.

Alex Dujshebaev scored six times for Kielce.

The Flensburg team had strong support in goalkeeper Benjamin Buric.

The Bosnian started the game better than the German national goalkeeper Andreas Wolff, who slacked off a day after his 30th birthday after an equally good start.

In the attack of the SG, Wanne set the tone.

The Swede had already met ten times before the break.

At the beginning of the second half, SG right winger Lasse Svan was injured in a collision with Igor Karacic.

Since Marius Steinhauser stayed in Flensburg due to a foot injury, right-hander Magnus Jöndal had to change wings at short notice.

Nevertheless, at 24:20 (40th), the guests again worked out a four-goal lead.

As Wolff got stronger again, Kielce came up to 24:25 (49th) at the end of the game, but the outstanding Buric held on to the victory.
