Marienhafe (dpa) - Animal lifesaver: A dog barked a family in the East Frisian Marienhafe because of a fire and thus probably saved them from worse.
«Pepe» had noticed the fire in the living room of the family house in the middle of the night on Thursday, as the fire brigade and police announced.
The family dog made the family of four aware of the danger by barking loudly.
The parents and the two children were able to get to safety and alert the fire brigade.
Firefighters quickly brought the flames under control on the ground floor.
According to the police, it was initially unclear why the fire started.
