Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - Saxony-Anhalt's Economics Minister Armin Willingmann has criticized the fact that the self-employed are not yet planned for newly planned help for corona hardship cases.

"We are still looking in vain for the entrepreneur's wages or the self-employed short-time work allowance," said the SPD politician on Thursday afternoon after deliberations in the black-red-green cabinet.

Such a regulation must be included in the hardship package, he demanded.

Willingmann has been fighting for months - also with SPD counterparts - to ensure that the situation of self-employed people is also taken into account when it comes to Corona aid.

Most economic aid agencies can claim lost sales or running costs, but not an income for the entrepreneur himself. Instead, the self-employed should apply for basic income support.

Now the federal and state governments want to set up a hardship fund for those who have not been able to take advantage of any of the previous aid programs.

The details are still being negotiated.

According to Willingmann, it is about a volume of 1.3 billion euros; Saxony-Anhalt could account for 40 million euros.

This sum would be shared by the federal and state governments.
