Berlin (dpa / bb) - A good six months after a serious speeding accident on the Kurfürstendamm in Berlin, the trial against a 29-year-old begins next Thursday (March 11th / 9:30 a.m.).

The accused are accused of dangerous interference in road traffic, forbidden motor vehicle races, dangerous and serious bodily harm as well as escaping accidents, as the regional court announced on Thursday.

The alleged speeder is said to have crashed along Ku'damm at speeds of up to 132 kilometers per hour in a rental vehicle with 530 hp on the evening of August 31, 2020.

He is said not to have braked the car even when he saw a small car trying to cross the street.

Its driver was critically injured in the collision.

According to the court, she is permanently paralyzed.

Her 17-year-old daughter was seriously injured as a passenger.

The force of the collision was so strong that several parked vehicles were damaged by flying car parts, it said.

The defendant is said to have fled from the scene of the accident on foot together with the other occupants of the rental car.

The suspect was caught on October 2 and has been in custody ever since.

Special forces carried out the arrest warrant in his apartment in Grunewald.

The suspect had been searched extensively.

He is said to have delivered an illegal race with at least one other car.

Dates for the process are initially planned until the beginning of May.

There were repeated illegal car races on Kurfürstendamm.

In February 2016 there was a collision with a jeep for which the traffic light showed green.

The car was thrown 70 meters.

The 69-year-old driver died in his car.

One of the speeders has now been convicted of murder and is serving a life sentence.

The fatal race continues to preoccupy the courts to this day.

Only this week, the district court sentenced the second, now 29-year-old speedster, to 13 years in prison for attempted murder.

The defense attorney announced a revision of the judgment.
