The individual was indicted in early February for murder.

He was accused of having killed his partner with a firearm on the night of February 3 to 4 in a hotel room in Cabourg (Calvados).

During his hearings, the respondent had mentioned "an accidental death, following the handling of a loaded firearm".

"This version can not be excluded at this stage, but the prosecution considers that there are currently sufficient charges to retain, in the state of the file, a voluntary act", had indicated in a press release Amélie Cladière, public prosecutor from Caen.

He had confided his suicidal desires in prison

The young man was "already known to the police and the judiciary, especially in the context of drug consumption and incidents against the police".

He had presented himself to the police a few hours after the tragedy.

Placed in pre-trial detention at the Cherbourg remand center where he had mentioned his suicidal thoughts, he was transferred to Rennes-Vezin prison on February 11, the daily said.
