Zakharova commented on the US decision not to promote democracy by force

“Finally, the United States has made the right decision.

I would like to note that you cannot promote democracy, nothing at all can be promoted by force.

She stressed that nothing can be promoted to other sovereign countries "without their will, official consent, without respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of these states." 

Earlier, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that the United States no longer intends to promote democracy in the world by forceful overthrow of regimes and military interventions. This tactic has been used in the past, he said, and it didn't work.
