Munich (dpa / lby) - Bavaria has included the Walburga worship in Eichstätt and the Fassbinder trade in Tirschenreuth in its state directory of intangible cultural heritage.

The Bavarian Ministry of Home Affairs announced on Wednesday that the list will be expanded to 56 entries.

Committed citizens kept the traditions “alive and outlasted difficult times,” said Home Secretary Albert Füracker (CSU).

The veneration of Saint Walburga developed at her grave in Eichstätt in Upper Bavaria.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, this includes pilgrimages, the distribution of Walburgis oil and the offering of gifts.

The traditional Fassbinder craft in Tirschenreuth, Upper Palatinate, is kept alive by a working group.

To this end, the volunteers collect old tools, products and plans, among other things.

Those interested can also try out traditional techniques for themselves.
