Erfurt (dpa / th) - In Thuringia, the infection situation remains tense.

With 124.5 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within the past seven days, the Free State also had the highest incidence nationwide on Wednesday.

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the value has only decreased minimally on the previous day (around 125).

Thuringia is also the only federal state with a seven-day incidence of over 100. Before the corona deliberations by the federal and state governments on this Wednesday, easing for regions in which only a seven-day incidence of 100 is under discussion is stable below.

Throughout Thuringia, the seven-day incidence on Wednesday was highest in the districts of Hildburghausen (just under 228), Schmalkalden-Meiningen (around 223) and the Saale-Orla district (around 221).

It was lowest in the city of Jena at 46.7.

From Tuesday to Wednesday, 474 new infections and 21 deaths were reported in Thuringia.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,900 people have died of or with the Sars-CoV-2 virus.
