Schwerin (dpa / mv) - Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) considers loosening of the corona protection regulations to be justifiable only if health protection is preserved.

"We need protection and perspective in the corona pandemic," wrote the Schwerin head of government on Twitter at the beginning of the federal-state summit on Wednesday.

She renewed her call for a triad of testing, vaccination and opening.

"To do this, we finally need clarity as to when and how many self-tests are available," Schwesig made an appeal to the federal government.

The more tests are carried out, the sooner the currently still applicable corona restrictions can be relaxed.

At the video conference between the country leaders and Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU), the start and financing of mass tests will also be discussed.
