Braunschweig (dpa / lni) - The BG Göttingen has again won the Lower Saxony derby in the basketball league against the Löwen Braunschweig.

The team of coach Roel Moors prevailed on Wednesday evening with 102: 91 (51:44) in Braunschweig and thus increased the distance to the relegation ranks.

With their seventh success of the season, the guests could rely on their strong long-range shooters.

The BG's best thrower was Aubrey Dawkins with 22 points.

In Braunschweig, Karim Jallow had 20 points.

In a derby that was intense from the start, the Göttingen team quickly gained an easy lead.

Led by the strong American Dawkins, the guests won the first quarter with 25:19.

In the second section, however, the lions stayed tuned and took the lead themselves after a strong phase by the German national player Jallow.

The more fluent guests reacted to this and led to the break again with 51:44.

On a run of the Braunschweiger at the beginning of the second half, the guests responded again with their three shooters.

But coach Pete Strobl's home team accepted the fight and equalized again by the end of the third quarter (71:71).

The game also remained open for a long time in the last round.

In the decisive phase, the Göttingen team could rely on their top scorer Tai Odiase under the basket.

After 79:76 in the first leg, the Göttingen team also won the second duel with Braunschweig.
