Berlin (dpa / bb) - With a human chain and further warning strikes, Berlin workers in the metal and electrical industry have emphasized their demands in the wage conflict.

The main focus on Wednesday morning was on several companies in Siemensstadt, including Siemens, BMW, BSH Hausgeräte and Fujitsu.

The second authorized representative of IG Metall Berlin, Regina Katerndahl, expected several hundred participants.

The employees should form a human chain on Nonnendammallee.

The peace obligation in the collective bargaining conflict expired on Tuesday.

Warning strikes have been possible since then.

Another warning strike was also planned in Brandenburg for Wednesday: In Brandenburg an der Havel, the employees of Heidelberger Druck were called for the early afternoon to stop work temporarily.

Since December employers and unions have been negotiating nationwide in the respective collective bargaining districts about higher wages and salaries.

The employee side is demanding four percent more money for the approximately 100,000 employees in Berlin and Brandenburg with a contract term of one year.

She has also brought a reduction in working hours by three hours a week with partial wage compensation into play.

In the east, IG Metall is also concerned with a further adjustment to the wages in the west.

From the employers' point of view, however, there should be a zero round this year.

In mid-February, in the third round of collective bargaining, they submitted an offer that would allow “the payment of a mixture of a one-off payment and a table increase from 2022”, as the Association of the Metal and Electrical Industry in Berlin and Brandenburg announced at the time.
