Göcklingen (dpa / lrs) - While escaping from forensic psychiatry, a 26-year-old jumped into a pond in Göcklingen (southern Weinstrasse district) and died.
The criminal police are now investigating, said a police spokesman on Wednesday evening.
It is possible, among other things, that it is an accident.
On Wednesday afternoon, the police were informed that two people who were housed in the clinic for forensic psychiatry at the Palatinate Clinic in Klingenmünster had escaped.
One of the two was arrested after a brief persecution at the biotope pond in Göcklingen.
The other had jumped into the pond and could only be recovered dead.
Mentally ill offenders are housed in forensic psychiatry.
