Frankfurt / Main (AP) - Eintracht Frankfurt's former cult goalkeeper Oka Nikolov has advised the Hessian Bundesliga club to calm down after this season despite the announced departure of sports director Fredi Bobic.
Coach Adi Hütter and the team should be able to “continue to concentrate fully on the sport and be rewarded for their good performance at the end of the season,” Nikolov said in an interview with the Sky broadcaster.
"Of course, it is also important to find a new solution promptly and still with the necessary care."
Bobic wants to leave Eintracht in the summer, wherever he will go, the former international left open.
Nikolov, who is still highly regarded by Eintracht fans, has noticed that his name is also being traded as Bobic's successor on social networks.
"Yes, I read the rumors," he said with a laugh.
“Of course these are positions, especially at Eintracht, that are very attractive.
But nobody called me and I just signed a new contract. "
The now 46-year-old moved to the USA from July 1993 to July 2013 after his time as a Eintracht professional.
Initially as a player, after brief engagements with the German U19 as a goalkeeping coach and the national team of Macedonia, he has been working in the USA again since the end of 2015 and most recently at Philadelphia Union.
