The Court of Appeal convicted the father and his two sons of murder with honor motives for the murder of Reza Hoseini in Kiruna.

The 17-year-old son who received his sentence reduced from four years to three years and six months in a closed youth care institution.

The Court of Appeal considered that it was a mitigating circumstance that he had not used any lethal force and that he had not acted with the same direct intention to kill as the father and the younger brother.

According to his lawyer Anna Melander, he was disappointed after the verdict.

- I have only had time to talk to him very quickly and he thought it was heavy that he was convicted of murder.

His view has always been that he had no intention of the plaintiff dying, she says.

Wanted to see a bigger reduction for the 15-year-old

Jonas Westerlund defends the 15-year-old son who has admitted that he handed the stabbing to Reza Hoseini, but only admitted murder.

The Court of Appeal reduced the sentence by two months to two years and six months in a closed youth care facility.

The hope was an even greater reduction when it comes to calculating the penalty discount due to the young age.

- The prosecutors have assumed that life for an adult would correspond to 25 years in prison.

In any case, it is gratifying that the Court of Appeal, just as we have assumed from 18 years in prison before the youth rebates, says Jonas Westerlund.
