The man was admitted to Västmanland's hospital in Västerås at the beginning of November 2020. He was tested for covid on arrival at the hospital and first received a negative test result.

However, a later test showed positive.

The man's life could not be saved.

During his stay in the hospital, 28 people from the care staff must also have been infected.

The region writes in its incident report that the man had a great need for care and many of the staff cared for the man, and therefore the coronavirus could be spread before he was tested positive for the disease.

The region is now reporting the incident to the Swedish Work Environment Authority.
