Potsdam (dpa / bb) - Brandenburg's Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke (SPD) announced a rapid expansion of corona vaccinations before the federal-state meeting and criticized deficits.

"We want and we have to get better together," said the State Chancellery on Tuesday after the first meeting of the so-called Corona vaccination cabinet.

"There haven't been any vaccines in the last eight weeks."

That is different now.

“It is therefore not acceptable if Brandenburg is in last place nationwide when it comes to the vaccination quota for first vaccinations.

That does not work like this.

Quick remedial action is required here. "

The vaccinations had progressed rather slowly in the past few weeks until deliveries of vaccine came again.

Health Minister Ursula Nonnemacher (Greens) is therefore under criticism.

She announced on Monday that the vaccinations should go into turbo gear.

Around 184,000 doses of vaccine have been injected in Brandenburg since the end of December.

When it comes to the proportion of first vaccinations in the population, the state lags behind the national comparison with 4.3 percent, with second vaccinations at 3.0 percent above the national average.

From April onwards there will be 440,000 vaccinations per month, from May 520,000 in order to meet the target by the end of summer.

A model test with vaccinations will start on Wednesday in initially four general practitioners' practices.

A year ago, the first corona infection in a Brandenburg citizen was officially confirmed.

According to the head of government, above all the coordination of the corona measures between all levels, including the districts, must become faster and better.

“It's about becoming more efficient together, wherever possible and necessary,” said Woidke.

"And I personally think: it is necessary."

Counties, municipalities, hospitals have offered help.

«Here we want to act more unbureaucratically than before, faster and more pragmatically.

This applies to information, availability, appointments and the vaccination itself, especially for particularly vulnerable people. "

Previously, SPD parliamentary group leader Erik Stohn had called for more speed and indirectly criticized the green coalition partner.

"When it comes to the first vaccinations, especially the vaccinations for the elderly, we are more like FC Schalke than FC Bayern," said Stohn.

"We have to get into the slippers."

Left parliamentary group leader Sebastian Walter criticized Nonnemacher even more clearly.

"We could certainly have saved lives if we had acted differently here," said the opposition politician.

The red-black-green state government rejected suggestions after vaccination letters to over 80-year-olds a few weeks ago and is now doing it yourself.

The SPD and CDU are pushing for relaxation.

The SPD parliamentary group proposes regionally limited "island lockdowns".

Stohn said: "We can open a lot in outdoor areas, I expect a bit of creativity."

Small shops and bars should be able to use sidewalks unbureaucratically.

The CDU parliamentary group proposes that outdoor activities should be allowed at a distance or mouth and nose protection in March.

This concerns, for example, the opening of restaurants outside, contact restrictions and open-air cultural events, according to a draft for a closed meeting on Wednesday.

The Greens warned against early easing.

The AfD opposition demanded a basic strategy for openings.

Hair salons, garden markets and flower shops in Brandenburg have been open again since Monday.

Woidke had presented a step-by-step plan for possible easing.

It shows scenarios for openings in four stages, but without timing and criteria.
