The Health Organization: The Corona crisis will not end by the end of 2021

WHO Executive Director of Emergency Services Michael Ryan said that although the spread of Corona has slowed in some countries due to closures and vaccination programs, "it is too early and unrealistic to believe that the epidemic will end by the end of the year."

Speaking during a press conference in Geneva, Ryan explained that "vaccinating people most at risk of infection, including health care workers, will help alleviate the tragedy and fear of the epidemic, and will help relieve pressure on hospitals, and keep the virus under control."

He added: "If vaccines begin to affect not only the risk of death or hospitalization, but on transmission and spread, I think we will quickly move towards controlling this epidemic."

The number of new global infections increased last week for the first time in nearly two months, and the reported cases increased in 4 of the 6 regions classified by the World Health Organization, which are the Americas, Europe, Southeast Asia and the Eastern Mediterranean, according to the British newspaper, The Guardian.
