Berlin (dpa / bb) - Berlin's Governing Mayor Michael Müller (SPD) finds it justified to discuss easing the corona measures.

"We must of course remain level-headed," said Müller on Tuesday about the upcoming deliberations of the federal and state governments in the ARD "Tagesschau".

On Wednesday, the heads of government of the federal states, together with Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU), will discuss how to proceed after the lockdown, which will initially run until March 7th.

"The numbers are still very high with all the successes of the last few months," said Müller, the incumbent chairman of the Conference of Prime Ministers (MPK).

“Only: We have other options for dealing with the pandemic now.

With the vaccination, tests and self-tests, especially those that are still to come, we have a mix of measures that is available to us.

And that's why I think it's appropriate to talk about easing now. "

There are signs of further opening steps - however, depending on the regional infection rate and with an "emergency brake".

This emerges from a preliminary draft resolution for the Bund-Länder-Round (status: Monday 7.10 p.m.), which, according to reports, has not yet been coordinated with all Länder.

Openings are linked to mass rapid tests.

In principle, the lockdown is to be extended until March 28th.
