The work environment at the Swedish Environmental Crime Agency (EBM) has been a controversial issue during the autumn.

Internal emails that Assignment Review has now received also show that individual representatives of political parties have been stopped from meeting experts at the authority.

Several politicians testify about how they were denied dialogue with representatives of EBM.

Among them is EU parliamentarian Jytte Guteland (S), who in 2018 was told that the authority no longer conducts "dialogues with representatives of individual political parties but refers to consultation responses and other public documents".

The call: Call the CEO

Due to the revelation of the Assignment review, Member of Parliament Johan Pehrson (L) has sent a letter to the Justice Committee with a request to call the authority's director general Monica Rodrigo.

"SVT's program Assignment review publishes on SVT's website testimonies from several elected representatives who speak for a dysfunction", it says in the letter that continues:

"In order to present the authority's current challenges and to respond to allegations of a culture of secrecy and shortcomings in the work environment, I believe that the Director General and safety representative at the Economic Crimes Authority should be called to the committee."

Several members react

Several other members of the Justice Committee have also responded to the review.

The Left Party's Ulla Andersson as well as the Moderates' Johan Forsell have shared the Assignment review publication on Twitter.

"If this is true, it is very remarkable.

As a member of the Riksdag, you naturally want the best possible basis for being able to make wise decisions.

Our authorities are absolutely central to getting it. ”

Johan Forsell writes about the information that employees are stopped from meeting politicians.

The Justice Committee will meet next time on Thursday and can then decide whether to choose to call the Director General for a hearing.
